Short Description
This project aims to support and empower women affected by conflict in South Darfur by improving honey production and upgrading traditional beekeeping practices into a more efficient and sustainable livelihood system.
The project will provide training and modern beekeeping equipment to 300 women and 100 youth, helping them strengthen their livelihoods, increase household income, and contribute to improved food security and community stability.

Background
Sudan is facing one of the world’s most severe humanitarian crises due to ongoing conflict, mass displacement, and economic instability. According to humanitarian reports, more than 9 million people are internally displaced, and millions of families have lost their sources of income and are experiencing severe food insecurity.
In South Darfur, many communities have been significantly affected by the conflict. Families are struggling to meet their basic needs, and women are increasingly taking on the responsibility of providing for their households due to the lack of employment opportunities.
Despite these challenges, South Darfur has favorable environmental conditions, including natural vegetation and flowering plants that support beekeeping and honey production, making it a promising livelihood opportunity for local communities.
Project Idea
The project seeks to enhance traditional beekeeping practices and improve honey production through practical training and the provision of modern equipment.
Participants will receive training on:
• Modern beekeeping techniques
• Beehive management
• Hygienic honey harvesting and processing
• Honey packaging and marketing
• Small business management and entrepreneurship
The project will also provide modern beehives and essential equipment to enable participants to begin honey production and generate sustainable income.
