Iftar Project in Sudan

Organization: Dara Development Organization (DRA)

Project: Iftar Project Sudan

This Ramadan, millions of displaced families in Sudan face hunger instead of hospitality. With over 21 million people facing acute hunger and famine confirmed in many regions, families living in camps have no income, no savings, and no way to buy food for iftar .

Mothers try to fast while their children need food they don't have . Children share tiny portions, never feeling full . Patients break their fast in hospital beds with no one to provide for them .

Dara Development Organization (DRA) is responding through our Iftar Project Sudan—providing fresh, nutritious hot meals and family food baskets to vulnerable fasting families throughout the holy month.

What We Provide:

Hot iftar meals from community kitchens serving displaced families daily

Ramadan food baskets containing rice, flour, legumes, oil, sugar, tea, dates, and staples—enough for a family for the entire month

Eid clothing bringing joy to orphaned and vulnerable children

Zakat Al-Fitr and Udhiya distributions to eligible recipients

Target Beneficiaries:

Displaced families in camps with no income

Orphans and orphan-headed households

Widows and female-headed households

Elderly individuals with no caregivers

Patients and caregivers in hospitals

Your Contribution:

$50 - Iftar meals for 10 families

$70 - Complete Ramadan food package for one household

$100 - Hot iftar meals for 20 families

$250 - Month-long food basket for one family

$500 - Community iftar for 100 people

$1,000 - Sponsor a central kitchen for one week

$2,500 - Eid clothing for 100 orphans

Fidya: $12 feeds one person for one missed fast

The Prophet (peace be upon him) promised: "Whoever provides food for a fasting person will have a reward like his." Gain this reward again and again this Ramadan.

Thousands of families are waiting for a helping hand . Be the reason a family in Sudan breaks their fast with hope instead of hunger.

Donate today. Bring hope to Sudan's tables this Ramadan.

Poverty Alleviation Program

Organization: Oxfam

Project: Poverty Alleviation Program in Sudan

In Sudan's poorest communities, families have ideas and determination—but lack the capital to start businesses and lift themselves out of poverty. A small loan, a sewing machine, or a few chickens can be the difference between watching children go hungry and sending them to school .

Oxfam's Poverty Alleviation Program provides vulnerable families—particularly women, displaced persons, and youth—with the skills, capital, and support to build sustainable livelihoods.

What We Provide:

Microfinance and small loans ($250-$750) to aspiring entrepreneurs with viable business ideas

Saving for Change groups where women pool savings and invest in each other's businesses

Business skills training using the Gender Accountability and Learning System (GALS) methodology

Peer training networks where successful entrepreneurs train others, multiplying impact

Success Stories:

Fatima Hamid, a divorced single mother in Khartoum, received a $250 loan, started a mobile phone credit business, and now supports her daughter while studying for university entrance exams

Fatima from Darfur, displaced by war at 16, received business training, started selling vegetables, now runs multiple businesses and trains others in her village

Saving for Change groups in Darfur have enabled women to pay school fees, buy medicine, and gain confidence. "Every single woman has achieved her financial goal"

Target Beneficiaries:

Women, particularly widows and single mothers

Internally displaced persons (IDPs)

Youth at risk of unemployment

Conflict-affected communities in Darfur and Khartoum

Your Contribution:

$50 - Business skills training for one entrepreneur

$100 - Start-up supplies for a small business

$250 - Micro-loan for one entrepreneur

$500 - Support a Saving for Change group of 20 women

$1,000 - Livelihood package for 5 families

"In poor communities, when people have ideas and determination, just a little bit of help can have an enormous impact" .

The consequences are deadly. Over 60,000 cholera cases have been reported, spread through contaminated water. Over 70% of health facilities lack clean water for medical purposes .

Hand pump installation and rehabilitation protecting women from GBV risks during water collection

Water yard solarization serving over 24,000 people in East Darfur

Health facility water systems ensuring clean water for medical care

Community water committees trained to manage and maintain water points

Women-friendly toilets in camps, schools, and public facilities

Hygiene education preventing disease and promoting health

Fatima in Kass IDP camp: "I cannot believe it. I just spent a few minutes at the water point to fill my pots. Thanks to CARE's solar-powered pumps"

Alkalakil village women no longer risk violence to fetch water, thanks to a new hand pump

El Daein water yard provides safe water to 24,000+ host and displaced community members

Target Beneficiaries:

Displaced families in Darfur, Kordofan, Kassala, Gedaref, and beyond

Women and girls at risk of GBV during water collection
